So far, so good… there are over 600,000 jobs created since the first of the year, with total employment in the US now at record levels. Two thoughts to share:
A veteran client has been conducting her employment search with the Gulfport WIN Job Center Veteran Staff members and started looking to "see what was out there". She was open to see what employment opportunities were available and had a very positive attitude and approach to her employment search.
Al Brooken conducted a sit down interview in the early part of March, made the initial assessment and explained the services available to her. She was aggressive in her search for employment and was seen by Roger Berry and Mike Crowle as well.
During one of her visits to the Gulfport WIN Job Center, Al Brooken presented an opportunity for a Customer Service Representative, believing it was a good match for both the company and her based on her military background. While in the Air force she was assigned duties in the personnel department for her Command and gained a tremendous amount of experience processing large numbers of records and answering queries related to record maintenance. Please note: she is also fighting barriers as a 100% VA Disabled Veteran as well as 100% Social Security Disabled.
The candidate reported for the interview well prepared and, as a result, was hired and started work on March 17th at a starting pay of $15.00 per hour. The company is involved with Hurricane Katrina Relief efforts by providing temporary housing for local residents in the Bay St Louis Community. She is pleased with her new employment as a Customer Service Representative, providing information and assistance to the community about temporary housing.
The veteran staff is pleased and proud of the efforts and determination she put forth and her ability to adapt and overcome obstacles. We salute you.

Thanks for your comments Al, and continued success!
Priorities. In your contacts with employers, are they sharing their key needs? While a company may have five or ten+ jobs open, there are normally one or two that are very difficult to fill, especially in today’s job market. Get the details about a few key jobs and share the information with your office team. Work on the more difficult jobs and keep an employer informed about the effort. The effort plus any success adds value to the staffing efforts of an employer.
