In 2006, over 70 million Americans shared their time and talents to support a full range of cultural, faith-based, health care, sports activities and more, enriching the experiences of the communities they served. If you have a desire to contribute to your community by helping people with career and job search issues, we need to talk!
Key Commitments of a Job Support Group Volunteer
To help you decide to make a personal commitment to launch a group or assist a current group, consider the following:
- Talent: What talents do you offer to the group that would be helpful to job seekers? Talents can include meeting leadership, writing, job market expertise, coaching, etc.. Keep mind that the people need a broad range of assistance, such as help with job search tools (resumes, cover letters, etc.) to personal and spiritual help .
- Time: Do you have up to four hours of time available for each group meeting planned per month? Time commitments include preparation for meetings (promotion, lining up speakers), attendance of a one or two hour session, plus any follow up contacts by members of the group seeking specific help between meetings.
